Johnstown Tomahawks head coach resigns

Johnstown Tomahawks head coach Mike Letizia has resigned, the team announced Monday morning.

Letizia has been a member of the Tomahawks' coaching staff for all 12 seasons, including 10 as the head coach.

During his tenure, the Tomahawks won 338 regular season games and an NAHL East Division title in 2018-19 season.

He was also named the National Coach of the Year following the 2018-19 season.

"Fellow owner Craig Saylor and I would like to thank Mike for his 12 years of service to the Johnstown Tomahawks and the Johnstown community. We wish him and his family the best of luck in their future endeavors," said John Koufis, CEO of the Tomahawks.

Letizia's resignation comes on the heels of the Tomahawks 2-0 series loss to the New Jersey Titans in the opening round of this year's playoffs.

The Tomahawks' management says the team is already beginning to search for a new head coach.
